inksword asked: Almost all of these drawings are of fat women. Do you accept drawings of men too? Or is this blog more focused on female body positivity as I know that's generally a bigger issue than male body issues. Also, I'm interested if you have any opinions on the inclusion of fat men vs fat women, I feel like fat men get more media exposure (often as the fat husband with the hot wife) but I feel like it's often more accepted to draw the sexually focused curvy female body type. Any thoughts?
There’s just more art of fat women. It’s being submitted more, and it’s easier to find. There’s more art of women in general. Women’s bodies are often seen as being more “artistic,” some of this mindset subtly rooted in the objectification of women. Nothing wrong with portraying women, portraying women beautifully, portraying women nude. But artists need to be aware of their mindset when they create and all these underlying social cues at work. There’s also a wrong assumption that curves are womanly.
But to answer your question, we totally accept drawings of men and welcome them gladly. It’d be a nice changeup.
